Ruby Shoes was born when my friend Lori Hall Steele came to me with the idea several years ago. Having been an entertainment writer for the past 30 years and a lover of all things pop culture, I immediately jumped on board.
Dear Lori passed away last year, and the site languished a bit after that. But I felt the urge to start it up again this year, and so that’s what I’ve done. In many ways, I feel like Lori is still my partner on the site, even though she’s not on this earth anymore.
As mentioned, I love all things pop culture, and I’ve been able to nourish that through my writing. During the past 25 years, I’ve interviewed everyone from Hayden Panettiere (Heroes!) to Stephen Moyer and Alan Ball (True Blood!).
I’m the assistant editor at AOL’s TV Squad, and I blog about movies at b5Media’s Film Gecko. I also write a syndicated family movie column; home base is Reel Life With Jane.
So Ruby Shoes is a natural extension of my other writing. Here, I can tell you about all the cool stuff I see in movies and TV, what hot new clothes the celebs are wearing, and just have fun with it.
